Sure, Windows Mobile’s UI could be improved in places (and I’ve suggested many in the past), but overall I still think it does the job quite well. I don’t think the entire UI needs to be redone, just tuned up. If you’re somebody who likes the flash of the iPhone (and it is flashy and cool) I can see why you’d disgree, but I’m more about function than flash.

So based upon my experience and opinion, my comment is valid and far from trolling.

It came across as “troll-y” because you gave zero reasons to back that fairly inflammatory comment up. That hit-and-run style is what trolls do, but, as you replied, I’ll take back the “troll” part.

However, you still didn’t answer my question about how it would ruin the iPhone. Even if you think Windows Mobile is passe, what’s wrong with allowing options? Does Boot Camp or other similar solutions “ruin” the Mac? I don’t think so; it just allows access to other solutions that may not run natively. That strikes me as a good thing.

If the piece had been about replacing the iPhone software with WM, not dual booting, maybe I’d see your point more. However, I suspect lots of WM fans would like WM 6.1 on the iPhone hardware (especially if the accelerometer and multi-touch worked).
