I installed on N82, it plays Youtube good, but with no sound.

Seems to take an age to load, I get a white screen with a small blinking black line in the top left of the screen… it sits there for ages (over 2 minutes) before it loads.

I tried it with iplayer and found it doubled the speed of the video and played no sound… not successful so far!

I’d be happier with Skyfire if the app remembered where you were with the last session. If I am in Skyfire, get an SMS and go to read it, by the time I go back WM has closed the app and Skyfire has to load (which takes a long time) and displays the default page again. It would be a lot more convenient if it would bring me back where I was (or WM actually asked me if it was ok to close the app, but I guess that is asking for too much.)

i got skyfire beta about a month ago, but it didn’t work on my phone (cingular 8125 with wm5). every time i tried to load it up, nothing happened. so i deleted it. anyone else have the same issue?

It _does_ fit text to the screen. You just have to enable it using the “Options” menu; the option is called “Smart Fit.” I don’t know why they didn’t make that the default, because as you say it’s not really practical without it, but I find that it works really well, and I almost never have to scroll left-to-right.

It does seem like it’s taking a long time for needed updates, though; in particular, there are a lot of VGA-based phones out there these days, with more coming online all the time, but they still don’t support any resolution higher than 360×360.

Even so, I only use Opera 9.5 beta for sites with passwords (I’m not fond of the idea of my banking password being on anybody’s server except the bank); I use Skyfire for everything else and am very happy with it, even if it’s a little less flashy than Opera.

Skyfire missed the mark if you ask me. They’ve been in beta for so long now that server side processing no longer seems that important or impressive. While it loads fast than Opera 9.5, it’s no where near as smooth as Opera in actual operation and the fact that it doesn’t fit text to the screen means way too much left to right scrolling.

For me Opera is light years better.
