According to news published a few minutes ago at Engadget, Walmart will start selling the T-Mobile G1, the first Android phone, tomorrow and that’s not all, the price will be $148.88, that’s 31 dollars cheaper than what is selling it for!

F….! I should have waited 3 days! Disappointed

  • That´s right, so sooner or later somebody will post the how to for free. Right now there are a few companies or people asking from 20 to 50 dollars to unlocked.

Unlocked HTC phones of this spec go for $500-$700, so not much point in wishing Walmart were selling unlocked G1s. The good thing though is that you can unlock the G1 using the IMEI code.

Awwwwww, that is sooooooo annoying. Tech used to be that fast and then it slowed down.
I too wish the phones were unlocked so we could enjoy one or two a year. I wait two years and then need to sign on for another 2 year contract with Verizon, who offer limited products and usually older models. I rely on mobilitysite writers to enjoy new gadgets from afar.

Recently, I wanted a netbook. Quality increased & price decreased. Finally settled on midlevel price, but a decent Lenovo model. Within a week, prices dropped on all brands--- bigger storage, more features. Yes, it can be frustrating.

If that were an unlocked price, I might pick one up just to check it out.

Oh well, it wouldn't work with my Redfly anyway. :D
