Ugh … so the “Storm” is glitchy, eh? As I mentioned earlier, I took a look at one but didn’t do much with it standing in the store. Looks like a version 1 problem?

If you got it at Verizon on the 21st you shouldn’t have to keep it – I believe you’ve got 15 days don’t you? You should be able to return it.

BTW … I commented earlier that the Moto-Q didn’t have WiFi. I was wrong … I ran into it while tinkering with some of the settings last night.

As a BlackBerry fan, I was one of the first to get a Storm on Nov. 21. After all the reviews, I was sold! Well, this device should be called the Hurricane..it is a disaster! Very glitchy. Screen turned to landscape when phone was still upright. Turn to landscape and the screen stayed portrait…finally slowly making the turn. Scrolling is choppy. Typing is slow. The software in this phone is not good.
It is disappointing that RIM would put out a product like this. I’m going back to my Curve.
Does anyone want a free “Storm” before I throw it in the trash can?

iPhone from Apple has developed a new standard for the smartphone industry. With it’s amazing touchscreen, full featured html browser, google maps with GPS, enterprise email support, ipod, stocks, weather, calendar, application store, etc etc, it has wooed millions of people from across the globe.

But even with it’s extensive feature list, there are a few key elements missing from the iPhone, some of which the BlackBerry Storm may do better than the iPhone thereby making it a safer bet than the iPhone… Yep, I meant safer. My Moto-Q doesn’t come with WiFi either. Doesn’t really make sense to have it if I can connect to the net through the cell radio – but I think I see your point. You might want to just do that from a free hot-spot rather than pay for a data plan. Is that what you’re driving at?

Still … it makes sense. Why would Verizon (or any other cell phone carrier) want to carry an item that had potential to be used outside their network, eh?

Chris, I was just down at Verizon yesterday. Saw the Storm. I played with it for just a few minutes, not enough time to really learn much but it is a cool looking device. The touch-screen actually has a tactile feedback system; you push on the screen and it actually “clicks” like a key. The whole screen (or at least the entire region under your finger) “clicks” like that.

It’s got a really bright screen and must have a good CPU. The tech was playing a movie on it; very visible, clean, crisp and great sound.

I think typing on it would take some getting used to … I still don’t quite like typing on a touchscreen without some kind of stylus. I just bought a Moto-Q 9c myself and find text input on it to be so fast that I can quickly run out of the 160 characters in a text message before I know it; which wasn’t the case on the RAZR.

Anyway, the tech working at the Verizon store told me that in the 12 years he had been working there, the Storm was one of the few devices that had ever really impressed him.
