YES, THIS PHONE IS AWESOME.. lOl.. I HAVE ALLTEL P.O.S. N I LIKE USING THIRD PARTY APPS FOUND ON PDA LINKS, BUT I THINK THE ONLY KOO THING U CAN DO WITH THE VERIZON PHONE IS THE SONG RECOGNIZER FROM VCAST.. KUZ SUMTIMES U JUS WANNA KNO WHO SANG THAT SONG ON THE RADIO.

THE HTC TP HAS A DIFFERENT SETUP FROM THE 6800 N IT TAKES SOME GETTN USE TO BUT ALL IN ALL RUNS SUPER SMOOTH. TOUCH SCREEN IS WAY EASIER TO OPERATE THAN THE BIG BROTHER 6800 SO I ALMOST NEVER PULL OUT THE FULL QWERTY KEYBOARD UNLESS IM WRITING LONG MESSAGES SUCH AS EMAILS. NEWAYS OVERALL GOOD PHONE.. I THINK THEY COULD HAVE USED BETTER MATERIAL FOR THE CHROME WHICH SCARS EASILY, BACK BATT COVER WHICH DOESNT ALWSYS LOCK ON RIGHT N SLIDE MECH WHICH GETS LOOSE N LOSES DURABILITY AFTER A MONTH IF HEAVLY USED.

I use Alltel (which should be the same thing given the merge) and I can tether with no problem and use my GPS with GoogleMaps. Maybe these are recent updates or Alltel specific but I've been very pleased with the phone since I got it two weeks ago.

Love the phone, hate the service. My old 6700 used to allow me to tether with the same plan. This one does not. I am going to uninstall all the verizon junk on it and see if I can't get it to let em tether again without using any third party applications like pdanet. For what we pay in service charges on our plans they should allow us to use our internet conenctivity as we choose. There are simply somethings I need to do on my laptop at times over the phone. Note: AT&T allows you to tether. I think I will take a look and switch if this becomes a real issue for me.

Be warned that while this version DOES have GPS, it is totally locked down so that only VzNavigator (with $9.99/month subscription) can use it. I saw nothing about this on verison's site when I purchased it, and was disappointed when it arrived.
