IMG_5F00_1148_5F00_3FC90BE5I’m installing Windows 7 in my old Q1 (Celeron M) UMPC. Unfortunately I had some problems with my external DVD drive and I could not finish this project this weekend but somebody else did. Digital Life Style is reporting to have Windows 7 installed in a Q1P and according to that news, Windows 7 works in that UMPC better than Vista!

  • it was a clean install without formatting the drive, the old installations gets moved to Windows.old
  • Did you Upgrade? I was thinking about upgrade but I did not have enough space and trying to delete the restore partition I screwed my installed Vista partition so now I´m forced for a clean install.
  • I had a problem with the DVD drive, in the end I used a network share
  • Yeap, I noticed that! For some reason my dvd is not recognized as booteable, so I'm here at work preparing another one to install tonight. I don't have clear is the problem was the DVD (I was to tired to check it yesterday) or the DVD drive but I'll know for sure tonight.
  • I used your tip on getting the HID drivers working in Vista to get it working with Windows 7
