Celio RedFly in Action
November 7, 2009 – 9:36 pm | Comments

A few days ago I commented about the Celio Redfly adding support for BlackBerrys. I came across that bit of information first while researching to purchase a Celio RedFly myself and then while I’ve been …

Help Wanted – Inquire Within

Posted by Chris Leckness on December 29, 2008 – 11:04 am
closeThis post was published 10 months 9 days ago which may make its actuality or expire date not be valid anymore. This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.

2008 was a great year for Mobilitysite. We saw a steady growth in RSS subscribers and a slight increase in overall web traffic. The focus has shifted over the years here, but we’re still ticking. We could use some more expertise from some passionate folks to help move us forward too.

HelpWanted

It’s time to add a couple folks to Mobilitysite’s great staff. This isn’t your typical help wanted ad though, read on to find out why…

Ok, in the past, we’ve put out calls for help with the site. Sometimes we needed moderators in the forums, sometimes reviewers, sometimes news team. This time around is a bit more interesting. I am actually looking for an Editor in Chief. I am not just going to slap someone in that spot, but I hope to recruit 1-3 folks to join the already stellar team. Within a few months, I hope I can indentify 1 of of the editors that has passion and drive to want to take over the news editor lead. (Editor in Chief) I will share more details on this later. Does this mean I am going away? Certainly not. I’ve poured 6 years into my sites and have enjoyed most of it, but sometimes you do have to take a break. I don’t plan on leaving, but my day job is more demanding and my free time at night is not as plentiful as it once was.

So if you are interested in becoming an editor here at Mobilitysite, shoot an email off to chris(at)mobilitysite.com. Tell me about yourself, what area of mobility you are most interested in blogging, why you want to help out here, would you be interested in the possibility of becoming the lead editor at some point, and anything else you want to share.

I am not looking for people that just want to review items.  I am looking for people that want to stay on top of the most current news, tips, tricks, and such about Windows Mobile, Netbooks (Sorry Psion), UMPC, Laptops, Music players, and other Mobiles like the iPhone or Android. The opportunity for reviews would also come up too, but that’s not the main gig.

Mobilitysite has seen gradual growth over the last year. We are currently averaging around 1.2 – 1.5 Million page views a month. We have 7k-8k RSS subscribers. We have a super technorati ranking, Google Page Rank, and Alexa Ranking. I can only see it getting better from here. We are planning major forum upgrades soon. We have been slowly getting new forum members, but we haven’t hit 300k members yet.

I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the kind remark Jamie! No I am not leaving and intend to be around offering what I can to help our incredible community grow. The distinct advantage we have is a host of folks that offer a myriad of different perspectives that cater to virtually every person that visits Mobilitysite.

I have had a few outside projects going on for the past six months that preclude me taking on more of a role and I am quite happy being the "Senior" editer....of course that refers to age (lol).
  • I would continue to do all the back end stuff I do. I would stay on as an editor or blogger, whatever term is proper, and the Editor in Chief or Blogger in Chief would be the "figurehead" of the site. Lead the team, manage relationships with vendors, distribute the incoming press releases, etc. There is more to it than that, but basically what I am saying is that I want to dip down into the shadows a bit.
  • I've never understood what the "editor in chief" at most sites does. With blogging, there's not much real editing that goes on (posts aren't queued for review here, are they?), so maybe it's assigning stories at times or coordinating reviews.

Chris, could you explain a bit more what is expected and what "managing the site" entails?

    Steve
  • :) Whatcha talkin' bout Willis?

    Thanks!
  • Hey Chris, great job being Editor-in-Chief!
"I am actually looking for and Editor in Chief."
    I thought it was "and"-->"an"

    ^^
  • Yes, Jack is and will continue to be our Sr. Editor. He will be around. He's just not interested in managing the site. He's quite happy in his current capacity.
  • Jamie Vandecamp
Chris, I thought Jack was your editor is he leaving? Say it isn't so.
