Love the Prisoner references as well. Fortunately I haven't been captured and taken away yet to iPhone land. Having been a handheld user since the HP 100 LX (anybody here remember that) my primary desires have been ability to edit documents and Outlook synchronization. I have a wish list that if Steve answered would almost get me to try an iPhone: Real Office document creation/edit capability; tethering capability; ability to use a bluetooth stereo headset like my Motorola S9; and how about a bluetooth keyboard so I don't have to type longer emails (or posts like this) on screen with my fat fingers? Oh, and could he fix the rest of the iPhone's shortcomings, too?

Ike, good to know you are staying with WinMo. Especially since there are Windows Mobile applications that give you the same experience as on iPhone and still preserve all the good sides of WinMo device. Like Communication Suite.

I love The Prisoner. And you pretty much experienced the gamut of things that I expected would come with iPhone ownership. I'll stick with my Tilt.

Great post. I especially like the references to The Prisoner. I wonder how many of the younger crowd are going to get it though...

I've been saying from the first time I got to play with an iPhone that it was not a smartphone in the way the sense that most of us are used to thinking of it. It has a great UI, but in terms of what you can do with it, it always felt to me, at least, that it was more like a souped up normal cellphone with a great feature set. Very usuable, very cool, but not as capable or as customizable as a Blackberry or a WinMo phone.

Oups, my comment has been posted twice. Sorry for the pollution (could you erase the first one? I have tried to stop the posting to correct some typo but it seems that it has nevertheless been saved :-( ). Sorry for this.

I definitely agree with the Number 6 syndrome. The iPhone is a very usable tool but it definitely needs to be more flexible and open. I should not have to jail break to use it as a modem for my PC (this is why I am not doing it, even if sometime I badly need it, when I am on a train).
My iPHone is quicker and more reactive that my good-old Hermes (TyTN) but I miss the keyboard (i big Fitaly for iPhone would also be nice). I also miss PocketInformant. I hope that we will be able to have one day a version with full synchronization with Outlook. I do not had a lot of crashes with Safari, after I have updated to 2.2. The battery life is also much better now.
Nice post, thank you!

Best regards
