It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.

samsung_blackjackii_red_l Consumer Reports recently posted their top Smartphones for 2008. The list was surprising to many.

  • Samsung Blackjack II
  • T-Mobile Wing
  • Motorola Q9C
  • T-Mobile Shadow
  • Blackberry Pearl Flip

Like others, I am really surprised by this list. The Blackberry Pearl Flip is probably the worst Blackberry released this year. Oh well, I decided to throw out my own list. This is a list of my favorites based on personal experience and opinion.

Keep in mind, this is my opinion and these are US Releases only.

  1. HTC Fuze (aka HTC Touch Pro)
  2. Apple iPhone 3G
  3. Samsung Omnia
  4. Blackberry Bold
  5. HTC Touch Diamond

Honorable Mentions :
Palm Treo Pro, Nokia N71, Samsung Instinct, Palm Centro, and T-Mobile G1.

But if they considered the Wing number 2 is the Fuze not similar in design but greater in functionalty? Plus the wing does not have 3G.

I am suprised not to see the iPhone but CR hates Apple

I think the iPhone was number 10 on the list.
  • Dollar for Dollar, Feature for Feature, the Fuze is the most powerful, complete smartphone right now in my opinion. Battery life isn't horrible, but it's not stellar either. I think the Fuze is the early 90s Mustang GT of the Smartphone world.
  • I'm pretty sure Consumer Reports is looking at the mainstream user and not power users. Also, the Fuze as number one? Reports of the battery life should instantly knock it down on that list pretty far.
