Does Apple Feel The Pressure From Palm and Android?

iphone_34 With Android and Palm creeping up with less “controlling” approvals for 3rd party software, is Apple checking up on their Monarchy? I ran into a company at Showstoppers last week at CES that spent $500k to develop an application that forwards your calls to where you are, no matter where you are. Part of their gig is an iPhone client for this. I can’t remember the companies name, but the guy that was telling me about it said that they have not been told why their application hasn’t been approved. This is just one of many stories about Apple’s consistency.

Today, MacRumors posts about how multiple 3rd party browsers were all of a sudden approved recently. This goes against Apple’s own duplicate functionality scam, err… I mean rule.

Could this be Apple lightening up some due to pressure from other platforms? What do you think?
