There has been a lot of sites presenting those same 2 images of supposedly Windows Mobile 6.5.

Today I found completely different screen-shots, taken by one of the XDA-Developers guys who “somehow” received the new OS version.

Of course – it may be that all of it is a fraud, but the XDA-Developers tend to be reliable so who knows…

Among the new features – a new today screen (similar to the 6.1 standard edition) and a complete finger friendly scrolling (on every window / list etc.)

Here’s the screen-shots: Windows Mobile 6.5! (Maybe…)

It cannot possibly be as ugly as those last four screen shots.

This looks awful! So much for bringing people over from the Zune team. If this is the direction Windows Mobile is going I see a Pre in my future!

I have a feeling the font looks off due to the localization, since it is clearly running a Chinese version of the OS. The English font on Chinese language devices always look like Courier gone bad. I won’t judge the look until I see it in a proper English language ROM.

My greater worry is that the options and information on the Today screen seems confusing and arbitrary. Likely a poor usabuility factor, less then WM6.1 from the look of i. I can’t imagine they would backtrack in this version (though I am not expecting major steps forward till 7). I am hoping this mess is due to the Chinese version, or user customization.

    Time will tell…
