Have an AT&T Tilt running WM6.1 and your Calendar entries are not syncing over the air to Exchange?

If so, do I have the fix for you!  Well, not so much a “fix” than it is a workaround… PATTLNK_1162007_195-tilt

Problem: Users of the AT&T Tilt (BKA: HTC TyTN II) who have upgraded to the WM6.1 ROM are no longer able to sync their appointments up to the Exchange server; however, you can still receive Calendar appointments down from Exchange to the device and all other items (Inbox, Contacts, Tasks) sync up and down correctly over the air.

Previous advice from multiple forums advises temporarily switching from a Time Zone and back fixes it, but that only lasts for 24 hours or until the next reset/power cycle of the device.

Here is the workaround I’ve received directly from HTC Support – in theory, this should last until DST changes:

  • Go to: Start > Settings, tap on Phone, then switch to the Time zone tab and Uncheck the box to auto adjust for daylight savings time, then OK to save.
  • Returning to the Settings screen, change to the System Tab, tap on Clock & Alarms (You can access this also by returning to your Today screen and tapping on the Time or Clock plug-in.
  • Change your Time Zone to GMT 0 London, Dublin.
  • Sync to the server wirelessly via Active Sync.
  • After a successful sync return to the Clock settings and change back to your current Time Zone.
  • Sync to the server wirelessly via Active Sync.

Again, this should be fine until DST changes.  At that point one will have to either manually change the time and sync or just repeat the above process – only time will tell.

Thank you for this. I discovered this problem two weeks ago on my Tilt and found that changing the timezone in the clock area let my appointments sync, but I didn’t know the part about the Phone settings for automatically adjusting.

I ended up loading a new ROM from XDA-Developers that had these same settings enabled for me.

    Thanks for this workaround.

This problem has been so frustrating. This bug causes ActiveSync to spin endlessly and eat my battery up.

I’ve resorted to turning off OTA calendar sync and sync the calendar with my PC every few days. This however is a problem when meetings are added or changed in-between syncs.

I’ve been looking for a better soultion but haven’t had any luck. (Thanks again!!!)

I’ll try this work around. However, I can’t believe that no official fix has been released.

The instructions worked for my device, an AT&T 8925 aka Tilt. Was very frustrating and I echo the disbelief that this has not been correclty patched. I *like* having the time zones automatically update because I travel a lot.

Here’s a link to an “official” patch that supposedly fixes this problem (I’m installing it now so I can’t say that it works yet!)

That doesn’t look like a patch to this problem. This problem only affects WinMo 6.1.

This update was released in March 2008 and is targeted to WinMo 5.0 and 6.0.

This worked great for me! I have been having issues with my phone trying to sync my calendar and all it does is eat up my battery life. Now that I have this work around, I can deal with it. Thank you!!!
