Is this really Windows Mobile 6.5?

I can’t really say, but since it’s being leaked out by an actual manufacturer, maybe. Last week, we saw ROMs pop up that are supposed to be Windows Mobile 6.5. They could very well be the real thing. I am not going to flash my phone to find out though. From the videos we saw, there were hints of what had been leaked out 3 or 4 months ago.

Now, Exedamobile (via) has some photos of a device with a Windows Mobile look that mirror earlier leaks and speculation. This honeycomb page on the left appears to be a finger friendly replacement for the good ole Today Screen. The image on the right shows a media player, could it be linked to the Zune software? That’s what the rumors say anyhow. Microsoft is expected to announce something at MWC next month.

Does this excite you at all? I am somewhat excited with the thought that Microsoft might be getting with the current style of UI design, but I am skeptical at best.

I'm more inclined to believe that this could be wm 6.5 than the previous shots that were appearing on devices like the Blue Angel, the type faces on the screenshots i saw to me reeked of some hacked together mashup, that was being passed of as wm 6.5 vs the real thing.

I'm honestly not optimistic though that wm 6.5 is going to bring enough to WM to make it competitive against the other consumer smartphone offerings out there.
