This results of this poll so far may be the perfect definition of a skewed bias, self-selected poll.

i think 2009 ought to be android's break out year - more devices and more carriers using the os.

as we saw with apple's iphone, the second year can be where expansion picks up.

also, the opensource communitee will be expanding...

I voted for the iPhone to continue its momentum, and am surprised not only that it's in last place, but by how much.

Apple has a cool device, a cool OS and a rabid developer community.

Android doesn't sound as cool, the devices so far are "meh" and I've heard the development community is somewhat disappointing so far (although that could change once apps aren't all free).

Palm has a cool device and OS (based on initial impressions), but has been floundering so long that it's hard to see them getting a lot of momentum this year. They'll really need developer support, but have the developers moved on?

Windows Mobile has a powerful OS and some cool devices, but really needs a good update. I think they still have great developers, which is good, but they need to avoid pulling a Palm and having the developers leave for other platforms.

I feel the big phone story in 2009, win or lose, will be WebOS.

As for WinMo, I expect 6.5 to be a maintenance release type situation, just holding down the fort until WinMo 7 is ready.

2010 I feel will be the make or break year for Windows Mobile.

That's my feelings exactly neil. I love WinMo, but seriously. Unless this "rumored" WM 6.5 hits and is awesome, I don't see it.

@Steve - What's Blackberry :)

The poll results so far are odd to me. I mean I'm a Windows Mobile guy, but I don't know how anyone who is honest with themselves can really say Windows Mobile is going to be hotter than WebOS in '09.

Looks like this is going to be a race. I think it all depends on what comes out of Redmond this year. If they do produce something, they might be in it, if not... Woe to Microsoft.
