iSteam Admittedly, I’m not an iPhone fan but if I were, this is one very cool application that I would have.

“Some say it’s cool, we think it’s hot and steamy”

Welcome the first “steamy” photo editor for the iPhone and iPod touch. We are proud to deliver you the unique chance to turn your device into a foggy surface just like your mirror after a hot shower or as your window on a winter day. iSteam exploits all the features of your iPhone (accelerometer, multitouch, microphone, speakers) like never before, for a totally realistic experience!

FEATURES:

  • Blow in your mic to haze the screen. (iPod users need external mic)
  • Use your fingers to write messages and draw just like you would on your mirror after a hot bath.
  • Shake your iPhone to clear the screen and start over.
  • Watch the droplets form and leave their mark thanks to our unique SteamX physics.
  • Finger squeaking sounds included.
  • Choose which of your favorite images you want to “steam”.
  • Impress your friends by sending them your masterpiece creations!

    We are so easily amused?

Pretty cool app. You can steam your screen but not cut and paste.

I don’t get it. what purpose does this serve?

What’s the purpose of sports cars or stand-up comedy?

No purpose, but they are fun and interesting. This app is really cool, and showcases what you can do with a capacitive touchscreen device.

I don’t get it either…other than being something new and different that I would get bored with in about 30 seconds, I don’t seen the point.

Oh brother…it’s just some fun! Does it need to serve up world peace?

The app is cute and does showcase a nice “eyecandy” element f the hardware.

I feel there is definetly a place for whimsy and sheer nonsense on any device…after all we all need a break now and again.

However if you go through the App store there is a heavy focus on apps desogned to impress your mates and/or date with “Dig my iPhone….”. The enomous popularity of things like on screen cigarette lighters, pouring beers and virtual farts make the iPhone seem like the Beavis and Butthead of devices (the Apple fanboys who insist that the iPhone is about to become the business smartphone of choice always amuse me). Showcasing tech is great, but eventually you need to DO something with it.

I love my iPod Touch but I really wish there was less “lowest common denominator” consumer tat and more business/productivy software for the iPhone platform. It’s out there, but is often hard to hear over the silly vocoders and virtual farts.
