The Amazon Kindle 2 is to me a smart move of this company targeting in the near future the European  market.

A video review of the Amazon Kindle 2 eBook reader covering design, features, samples of text to speech reading aloud via the built-in speakers and comparisons with the Sony Reader 505 and Sony Reader PRS-700.

  • I bought my kindle because of the e-ink display! To me that's the value on it.

It wouldn't necessarily need to be e-ink for color - it could be an OLED display until e-ink is more reasonable. You would still have more power draw, and my guess is that it would be more expensive than b&w e-ink. With the device at $360 already, I'd imagine that Amazon would want color later on.
  • e-ink color display are just coming to market. The refreshment of them still very slow and they are very expensive.

can’t figure out why this thing is still black and white

    Pick one:

    1. Because most books are still printed in black & white.
    2. Because it's cheaper than color and the Kindle is already expensive.
    3. Because E Ink displays (which are easier to read than most LCD displays) don't come in color.

Those are just guesses on my part, of course, but they seem reasonable.
