Yes, and here is an example of what I call Mistake with a capital M. Apparently HP is shipping the HP Mininote netbook with a very dark protection film covering the webcam. The result a blurry and dark image. Yesterday a video was posted in youtube talking about this issue and showing how to fix it but it was mysteriously removed. Thanks to JKKMobile we can show you this whole issue and the fix.

  • I assume this isn't the "protective film" that covers screens and other items on electronics nowadays and is supposed to be removed? I know that I've gone months without noticing a piece of film still on a device.

In fact, one time I kept the film on intentionally because it looked better. The original Motorola Q had a blue film over the M logo on the front. I thought the logo was blue until the film started to peel off and reveal the logo was silver. I preferred the blue, so I pushed the film back on (although it eventually fell off and disappeared).

The video was removed from youtube because HP requested that it be removed while they prepare an official, supported fix for this issue. Since the fix in the video could void the warrenty, it's probably a better idea to hold off and wait for the official fix from HP.
