Here is an interesting FREE service available if you are getting calls with blocked IDs.

TrapCall gives you caller ID information from blocked calls.  If you reject or miss a call, your phone forwards those calls to TrapCall’s toll free number then they “magically get the information” and send the call back to you but when you get it, the caller ID unblocked. If you reject the call a second time, it’ll go straight to your normal voicemail. On the caller’s end, all they hear during this whole process is ringing.

There are three tiers of service:  a free and two pay services offering a variety of features. If you are frustrated with telemarketers and calls from folks you don’t wan to hear from, then is could be a program worth consideration.

TrapCall does what it says, and it does it well.  Check it out HERE!

  • I think I know how it works. They forward the call to a toll-free number (confirmed by looking at their site). Toll-free sites support Automatic Number Identification (ANI) which can't be blocked. The service takes the ANI, sticks it in the Caller ID and returns the call to you.

What I don't like is how they claim to support "most" carriers, but their FAQ says they only support AT&T and T-Mobile for now. They don't support Verizon, Sprint or Canadian carriers. That's an odd definition of "most".
