The iPhone 3G will not now, nor ever work on T-Mobile's 3G network in the US, not because of lack of availability, but rather, AT&T uses a different frequency for it's 3G network than T-Mobile. Therefore, without a SERIOUS amount of hardware and software hacking which would be nearly impossible (if not totally impossible), the iPhone probably wouldn't work on T-Mobile's network at more than EDGE speeds.

I'm trying to see how this would save money in the long run? Is AT&T going to offer monthly plans that are $15 a month less? If the plan is going to cost the same with the subsidy, and breaking the contract costs $175, isn't it cheaper to go with the contract and pay the penalty if you want to break it, rather than pay the same plan cost and pay $300 for the hardware?
