pre Nothing official here, but according to JKontheRun, a guy named Jim Van is beta testing the Palm Pre and has been tweeting about it recently. He has indicated that April 30th is the release date for the Pre on Sprint. We shall see…

Here is some info that he tweeted recently regarding the Pre. You can’t verify this since it seems that Jim has since protected his updates.

  • Got Pre to work on Twitter, but it’s a tad cludgy…#Palm Pre
  • Sprint claims that 4/30 is a line in the sand, according to my acct mgr there…he’s usually right on #Palm Pre
  • UI is VERY clean, well thought out, made for fingers. Somebody used their brains on the design. Palm’s always been cool like that
  • Just used browser to remote in and play on our doc server..almost like computing w/out kbd…loaded word doc quickly..nice #Palm Pre

I guess I should use Twitter more often, It consumes more time that I have when I decide to use it though. If you want to get Mobilitysite updates on Twitter, Julie has us set up for that too.

  • This rumor feels right to me. Palm will need to release soon to take full effect of the current buzz before it turns into last monthes news before it is even released.

True about the timing. It took Motorola so long to get the Mpx ready that it was scrapped. It also took Motorola a long time to get the original Q out, but that seemed to fare better.

As for Jim Van, I hope he didn't sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. Protecting his updates after the fact won't help him if he did sign one....

They are also the first product to make Apple react (did the recent update announcements feel forced, rushed and all aimed at the Pre to anyone else?), and they should get to market before Apple announces the new rumored handsets.

Considering the polished state of the demo units we have been seeing, April 30 sounds about right. Let the games begin.

be interesting to get a hands on with it. I will have to get by the sprint store when it comes out. It is good to see some inovation from palm. Hopefully this will continue over to all the others.
