A few days ago I commented about the Celio Redfly adding support for BlackBerrys. I came across that bit of information first while researching to purchase a Celio RedFly myself and then while I’ve been …

Within the dungeon that all the mods and editors here at Mobilitysite are kept in, there has been a little discussion of expanding the focus.here. We have deep Windows Mobile roots here and those roots will never leave the ground I am sure. The recent discussion brings me to believe that an idea that I discussed with Mr.Cook not so long ago would be a nice addition here. I am toying with the idea of creating a couple spin off blogs in Mobilitysite’s likeness. These would be something like “iPhone.Mobilitysite.com”. This would be just a blog covering iPhone news and reviews and would be linked with the core of Mobilitysite.com. I am thinking iPhone and Android to start with and maybe more later. What do you think.

What do you think of this idea…

This wouldn’t necessarily be different sites, but part of a mini network that covers other technologies a little more in depth. Something that you may or may not know about our staff is that MANY of them have iPhones. (more than I knew)

since we're tossing out ideas, how about adding more on the forums to the main page like the old aximsite?

Nothing wrong with adding some new platforms. I'm for a Blackberry platform myself. Though I do agree with Steve in making any .mobilitysite.com the same as searching out all topics for that platform, and mobilitysite.com being the main one.

Even though we favor winmo this site gets a lot of respect and should give a fair shake to all systems. We all rely on what is said here. Also dont forget us PDA only users we are "mobile" also and the ipod touch is an alternative to the old axim

  • I wonder if it makes sense to just have iphone.mobilitysite.com basically just be equivalent to doing a search for iPhone-tagged articles. That way all of the iPhone (and Android) stuff will also be on the home page for people interested in mobility in general, but fans of a specific platform would have an easy to way to get just the news that interests them.

Plus, there wouldn't really need to be any changes to the blogging software. It would just be some server-side redirects or scripts.

    Of course, we'd need a winmo.mobilitysite.com, too. :D

  • As a "Mobility Site", it makes sense covering the major smartphones, but for functionality as well as the future, I'm betting on Windows Mobile. I enjoy a site with roots in Windows Mobile, especially since it continues to outsell the iPhone (dispite what the media may say).
