@Jason:

That's typically how the deals work. If you want a new phone without a contract, you pay list price.

@Chris:

I liked the off-center look of the SCH-i760. I was considering getting one, but if I remember correctly, it didn't have Bluetooth voice dialing, which was a no-go for me (along with the price). (NOTE: Verizon is showing it sold out now.)

I also played with the Omnia recently and thought it looked awesome (I didn't check whether it had Bluetooth voice dialing or not, though). If you don't need a physical keyboard, $99 seems like a steal.

Also, for those that don't know, the non-descriptive XV-6900 is the CDMA version of the HTC Touch.

Finally, you can also get the (ugly) SMT5800 Smartphone for $100. Here's a list of all of <a href="http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneOverviewByDevice&deviceType=Phones&sortOption=priceSort" rel="nofollow">Verizon's non-BlackBerry PDAs/smart phones</a>.

Apparently only if you sign up for a new 2 year contract :( Existing Verizon customers who just want to buy the phone are out of luck.
