Chris just caught this over at Phone Arena and it sounds very cool!  Apparently, Verizon is preparing to launch a device known as the MiFi 2200. This looks like it will be a personal Hotspot with built-in rechargeable battery. Your laptop will connect to it via WiFi (or USB cable) and then the MiFi 2200 connects to Verizon’s EVDO data network.

Not much is known right now so we will have to hope that Chris can get some of the inside track info while he is out at CTIA.
