I like my G1 and I think it has a lot of potential, but the iPhone is ahead not because of the video recording capabilities, but because of everything else. Every single application for iPhone is better, the way iPhone runs is smoother, the options are better... For heaven's sake, even the Google apps for iPhone are way better. Simply compare the Google Maps.... all we have more is the stupid street view. How about Public Transit directions, how about a decent GPS (that doesn't take between 2-15 minutes to start up), how about favourites... sharing of search results.... oh, my, oh my, dont get me started...
