Palm Pre – So much news… When is Launch?

There has been so much buzz lately about the Pre. So much buzz and so many videos starting to hit the net that I decided not to clean up and post my video of the Pre from CTIA. Well, the latest news about the Pre is not being owned by Howard Stern, it’s “caught in the wild” shots, leaked internal documents, and Sprint training. Regardless of what all these rumors/facts show, fellow Mobius member, Sasha Segan said it best on Twitter yesterday…
Now I don’t know for sure, but I believe Sascha. He’s quite reliable, well respected, and it doesn’t make much sense for the Pre to launch in April. May, sure… just not April.
The launch date that seems to be hitting the wires the most is May 16th. This is the date that I would recommend any Sprint user interested in the Pre to prepare for. Here is a run down of news leading to that date.
- Sprint Employees started to get Pre hands on and training. (Prethinking via BGR)
- Sprint employees are reporting a May Vacation block, similar to what happened at AT&T for the iPhone. (Engadget)
- Probably the most compelling proof is this leaked document that made it’s way around the blogosphere yesterday with a line item titled “Palm Pre Handset Launch” and the date set as May 16th. I like this document’s validity. (Engadget)
There is also the photo that had some wondering if it was coming sooner that hit the web yesterday. Many are calling these images fake and some think it’s all just a PR seeding, but either way… I am liking the May 16th date.
If you can’t get enough of the Palm Pre, there is a super long video out there from tnkgrl that was shot at CTIA that I found out about over at JKontheRun. Mine would have only been 10-15 minutes but it was so noisy and my camera work was so choppy that you guys would have gotten motion sickness. Last but not least, Palm announced last week that the Sprint Palm Pre portal was open for business.
