A few days ago I commented about the Celio Redfly adding support for BlackBerrys. I came across that bit of information first while researching to purchase a Celio RedFly myself and then while I’ve been …

Who needs a netbook eh? Seriously though, I was shopping for a netbook again and a thought came to my mind. I was cleaning out my office a couple weeks ago and remember seeing my wife’s old laptop, a Dell Inspiron 700m. We got this originally back in 2005 or 2006, I can’t remember. She broke the USB ports and she could no longer use her USB stuff, so I got her another one. Well, other than that it still works and has built in WiFi, a card reader, and all the other stuff a netbook should have, so why not right? I am in the process of trying to install Windows 7 on it, but either way, I think we are in business. No need to shell out another couple hundred for something to read email on why watching the Braves.

I put the HTC Advantage and the AT&T Tilt in the photo to give a size comparison. This thing is small. I just hope the battery is conditioned well enough to do the job.

Have you had any luck getting the 855GM video chipset recognized under Windows 7?

I broke the LCD on my 700m a year or so ago. Just recently I was thinking about getting a netbook when I remembered I had the 700m stored away. $175 to replace the screen and now I have a great notebook with a DVD-RW that runs faster than netbooks and will play 720p mkv files! I've got a tiny bluetooth adapter plugged into a USB port for tethering...and, wait for it...a 56k modem! That's the nostalgia in me coming out as I want to call up some old BBSes.

I got a really good deal on a MSI wind and have windows 7 on it. I love it. A netbook and my redfly make the perfect mobile package.
