It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.

The Tuned in package offers a $7 savings when you purchase AudioNotes, SoundExplorer and RingtoneEditor.  $14 gets all three programs, but when purchased alone they are $21.

Most pocket pc devices have a built-in voice recorder that is very basic.  Vito uupgrades this capability with AudioNotes and SoundExplorer.

Vito AudioNotes

AudioNotes Recording with Auto Gain off

14 day free trial is offered on all three components.  AudioNotes is the “easiest solution for taking notes on the go.”  Hardware button can be associated for recording.  Records in WAV or mp3 format.

VAS is voice activated system.  You set the minimum noise level, and the VAS will record sounds that are at or above that level.  This eliminates gaps of silence in conversations.

Use auto Gain to make sounds louder when you are far away from them.

Can record phone conversations on Pocket PC phone editions.

With voice notes you can append, rename, change location and send via MMS, or email.  Costs $7 purchased alone.  The software was very easy to use and quite intuitive.  If you want a good recording software without too many complications, this is a great choice.

SoundExplorer

SoundExplorer EQ

This seems to be a more powerful recorder than AudioNotes.  According to Vito, “SoundExplorer is a complete solution for audio recording and playing on your pocket pc.”

Features a huge variety of recording formats in mp3 and WAV.  Allows scheduled recordings.  Skinable.  Includes an equalizer and adjustable playback speed.  Also features VAS.  Converts WAV to mp3.  Allows bookmarking and playlist creation.  Supports ID3 V1 tags for mp3 files.

Allows editing of files, including replace a selected file with a different one, insert a file into a selected position and append recordings.  Costs $7 purchased individually.

SoundExplorer is not difficult to use, but has far more features than AudioNotes.  Use this software if you need to edit your notes and want more control over the editing and recording of sound.  I found many features to be intuitive, but some were more complex and difficult to master.  I’m sure with a bit of practice these high end features will be easier to use.

Ringtone Editor

re choose re set

re menu re save

Ringtone Menu                                       Save Bad Company’s Ready for Love Ringtone

Allows you to make your own ringtones.  Basically, you play a song, then choose the start and end of the ringtone.  You can then go back to your recorded ringtone, and edit it, to make an exact start and stop point.  Costs $7 when purchased alone.  This software could not be easier to use.  The ringtones seem to only last about 7 or 8 seconds.

Compatibility

All three products work with the following:

Windows Mobile Standard (Smartphone) 2003/5.0/6.0/6.1 Windows Mobile Classic (Pocket PC) 2003/5.0/6.0/6.1 Windows Mobile Professional (Pocket PC Phone Edition) 2003/5.0/6.0/6.1

Registering Software

Vito has the most unique registration system I have encountered.  It is also the most difficult, and I must say I don’t like it, but I understand that they want to protect their software from being pirated.  If you can get online, then the software won’t be too difficult to register, but if you cannot get online, you must go through a series of procedures that make it an unpleasant experience.  But long story short, when you register offline, the pocket pc generates a text file.  You copy it to your computer, open up the Vito site, find the offline registration for that product, and browse to the text file.  Then Vito will provide a new text file that must be saved back to the same folder in your pocket pc.  It’s even trickier than my bad description.  If I have any complaints about Vito, that is it.  Otherwise their customer service is excellent and the products are of high quality.
