I was just saying the other day how awesome it would be to see an official Indianapolis 500 application put out in the App Store just in time for the Greatest Spectacle In Racing this weekend.  Well it wasn’t exactly what I had envisioned being released but the Indy Racing League yesterday released IndyCar Mobile for the iPhone OS.  It features up to date standings, news, pictures, and videos along with live timing and scoring.  There is also a feature called Live GapView that shows the current leader and cars within 10 seconds of the leader in real time.

I am heading down to Indianapolis this weekend for the race with iPhone 3G and IndyCar Mobile in hand so expect a run down of the app in action after the weekend is over and pole sitter Helio Castroneves (pictured in his car above) hopefully bring home another Indy 500 win for Team Penske.
