Lots of HTC Touch Pro 2 News

Tons of info hitting the web about the Touch Pro 2 these last couple days. If you didn’t know it, this will be my next go to device, but I am saddened to know that Sprint is getting it 1st. I don’t have issues with Sprint, but I use AT&T and if Sprint is getting the Touch Pro 2 first, then it will probably be 3-6 months depending on what ever exclusive Sprint got before any other carriers get it. My guess is 3 months and then AT&T and Verizon get it, maybe T-Mobile too.

Why am I fairly sure Sprint gets it 1st? Well, that’s been the rumor since it was announced and the following photo.

Nice, Nice. This photo is part of some leaked photos that hit Sprintusers (via) yesterday. That thread seems to be missing at this time though. Maybe they were asked to take it down. Not sure. This photo alone is good, but if you want more proof, Engadget found something nice on the FCC site today. An FCC filing for the Rhodium which is the codename for the Touch Pro2. The document says CDMA version, so it’s Sprint or Verizon and I haven’t seen any leaked photos with Verizon’s logo yet.

Oh, and last buy not least, here is a review to quench the thirst of all that are eagerly awaiting the Touch Pro 2. This review comes from Mobile-Review.com.

Of course, if you are really hard up for some photos, you can check out my photos from my playtime at CTIA last month. I am really enjoying the Diamond 2 right now, so I know the TP 2 will own!

Umm, confused.. I am thinking about getting this phone. Verizon has it instock. but reading the review and posts here it sounds like it souldn't be out yet? Maybe I am looking at wrong phone. HTC Touch Pro?
  • This is the Touch Pro 2, the replacement.
  • I read that HTC would be locking the phone to CDMA (locking out GSM U.S. carriers) even though the phone has both radios. Maybe somebody will pick that lock and the Sprint version will be able to be used on AT&T.

T-mobile is actually releasing it July 22
  • You know, I thought that I posted something on that already, but totally forgot. Looking now. :) Thanks!

I feel the same as you, I wish at&t would get it first. I usually wait until they offer refurbs. I did that with a Treo 750 and my tilt and both still run fine. But waiting for a refurb is going to be hard if I have to wait 6 mths for at&t to get it and 6mths before a refurb comes out. Oh well.

Actually tmobile is getting it in July maybe June. I had been following this pretty closely and was actually surprised to hear that sprint was releasing it first (much less releasing it at all as the majority of the buz was around tmobile finally getting a nice device).
