I'm looking forward to trying it out as well, but I should mention that I installed the latest Ubuntu last night in a VM on my Mac and I was installed and working in Firefox and Evolution (Mail, PIM stuff) in less than 45 minutes (and that included installing the VM tools to add features like mouse sharing, etc.), and it took less than 3 GB to install.

I'm still not sure that Ubuntu is ready for typical, non-technical users, but it's getting closer all of the time.
