Remember that invite HTC put out earlier this month that had everyone guessing? Ya, well that day is today and here’s what it was all about, another Android phone with a chin…

The Hero has all the specs you’d expect from a current HTC device. It has a Qualcomm 528 MHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 288 MB ROM, G Sensor, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, 1350 maH battery, 5 megapixel camera, a trackball, and MicroSD expansion slot.

HTC Hero – Building on their design forward heritage, the HTC Hero melds a sleek, comfortable form factor with new and innovative features.  For example, a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen is complemented with an anti-fingerprint coating for improved smudge resistance and longer lasting display. The white HTC Hero comes with an additional Teflon coating providing enhanced durability and comfort, a first in the mobile industry. Other features such as a five mega-pixel autofocus camera and a 3.5mm stereo headset jack make this a powerful and convenient device.

HTC Sense – As the first device to feature HTC Sense, the HTC Hero will introduce a new mobile experience designed to enhance people’s lives. You as the user are encouraged to customize the information and content you want at your fingertips. From there, HTC Sense will integrate these communications in a way that is unexpectedly intuitive. First implemented on the HTC Hero, HTC Sense will be included on a portfolio of products moving forward.

Boasting bevelled edges and an angled bottom, the HTC Hero is contoured to fit comfortably in your hand and against your face while youre on a call.  The HTC Hero is built to last beginning with an anti-fingerprint screen coating for improved smudge resistance and a longer lasting, clearer display.  The white HTC Hero includes an industry-first, Teflon coating, resulting in an improved, durable white surface that is soft to the touch.

With its 3.2-inch HVGA display, the HTC Hero is optimized for Web, multimedia and other content while maintaining a small size and weight that fits comfortably in your hand. Today, staying in touch with the people in your life means managing a variety of communication channels and applications ranging from phone calls, emails, texts, photos, status updates and more.  HTC Sense takes a different approach by integrating these communication channels and applications into one single view enabling you to stay closer to your important people.  With HTC Sense, friends Facebook status updates and photos along with their Flickr photos are included along side their text messages, emails and call history in a single view.

HTC Sense is focused on providing a variety of these simple yet innovative experiences on your HTC phone that will sometimes bring you moments of joy and delight. Availability
The HTC Hero will be available to people across Europe in July and in Asia later in the summer. A distinct North American version will be available later in 2009.
