Good old Uncle Walt.  He is one of the few people in the world outside of Cupertino to see new Apple hardware before the rest of us.  Well, it wouldn’t be a Walt Mossberg review without an Apple mention and not only did he do it twice in his Palm Pre review, but he may have broken an Apple NDC in the process.

Unfortunately for Palm, Apple has both a new iPhone operating system and new iPhone hardware coming, likely available within a month, that could obviate many of these advantages.

Now, anybody could guess that we are getting new Apple hardware and software within the next month or so.  However, the next quote may pretty much lock up new hardware on Monday at WWDC.

I’d note that the new iPhone to be unveiled next week will have lots of added features that could alter those calculations.

Somebody at Apple I’m sure will have something to say about this and Walt might get a visit from the Apple ninjas in the middle of the night to steal back his new 3rd Gen iPhone.  I said in an earlier post that I don’t think we’ll see new hardware so for the sake of my very miniscule blogging “rep” I hope I’m wrong but Walt knows more about the inner workings of the boys at Cupertino than I do so I guess we’ll all see on Monday what happens.  I do however think that if I’m wrong and we do get new hardware on Monday at WWDC we will see “His Steveness” on stage to introduce it.
