Until now there were only a small handful of push notification apps. Well we have 3 new ones now that were designed for push: IM apps. AIM and Beejive now have their new versions live in the app store and all 3 apps support push notifications. AIM has a free and a $2.99 paid version while Beejive’s offering is a bit pricier. At the time of writing it was still on sale for $9.99 but it will go back up to $15.99 soon....
Now that we have a small “insurance policy” for our iDevices with the new Find My iPhone service, I think that MobileMe is a must have for anybody with an iPhone or iPod Touch. I was lucky, I picked mine up on Amazon last week for $59.99! While that deal is gone unfortunately, you can still pick up a single user license for $70.49. The only bummer is that you have to wait for them to ship you a...

With the new OS 3.0 release Apple added a new feature, Find my iPhone (or iPod Touch) which accesses Core Location to find out exactly where your iDevice is. Unfortunately, it requires a MobileMe subscription to be able to use it. After finding this on TUAW I was reminded why I was able to justify the $60 I paid for MobileMe.
LiveJournal user Kevin Miller was in Chicago for a LEGO convention and after the...

Apple said Monday that it sold over one million iPhone 3GS models during the first three days the handset was on the market, while its new iPhone 3.0 software was downloaded by six million customers in the first five days since its release.
The sales tally is inline with a prediction made by AppleInsider on Friday, shortly after the the iPhone 3G S hit retail stores and AT&T announce that it sold “hundreds of...
Looks like Microsoft has caved a bit and extended the life of XP one more time. According to this article in Computerworld, Microsoft has extended distribution of the aging O/S well into 2011 – past the point where Windows 7 will be released.
I’m a Vista user now myself but saying I upgraded it out of need is a stretch. Vista is fine (and Windows 7 shows promise) but MS had no idea how deeply entrenched...
OK, I admit it, this is maudlin as hell…and I saw the payoff coming from several miles away.
Still, I imagine it has a message for many of the fathers out there in MobilityLand, as it did for me (in fact, it made me tear up like an idiot, telegraphed or no).
Happy Father’s Day to all you sons and former sons out there, young and old.

CNN is reporting (via Textually.org) that a 15 year old Iowa girl, Kate Moore, has won the L.G. National Texting Championship held in NYC last week. The girl won $50,000 for overcoming such texting challenges as accurately texting such thumb-killing phrases as "Which wicked witch wished which more wicked witch in the well?" and "Zippity Dooo Dahh Zippity Ayy…MY oh MY, what a wonderful day! Plenty...

Both iphone’s (wife’s and mine) arrived without issue yesterday. One 16gb, hers. One 32gb,mine. Both Black.
My Phone was simple, and effortless to port the number over.. I then just added what apps and media I wanted… nice and simple.
I started the same with the wife’s, after which I handed it to her, and she asked where all her apps and music went. Then I asked what she thought I meant,when...

MLB At Bat was updated yesterday to version 1.2. The new big feature? Live streaming video using iPhone 3.0’s new streaming technology. Sounds great right? Well, not quite so much.
First, only 2 games per day are chosen to be featured MLB.tv At Bat games. Luckily, being a Chicago Cubs fan and my team playing the boys from the south side of Chi Town the game was picked to be the very first MLB.tv At Bat game.
Well...

This explains it all! AT&T’s lack of MMS, tethering, all the cool stuff that international carriers already have ready even though the iPhone 3G S does not go on sale until Friday. There is one thing that I really don’t like about the mainstream media’s tech coverage is that they don’t get everything right. They say that the iPhone 3G is not HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) compatible. ...

The AT&T iPhone 3G users out there were vocal VERY VOCAL when they found out that a shiny new iPhone 3G S would cost them $100 more than their 3G did because of their early renewal. Well, AT&T has heard the blogging and twittering masses and is offering an olive branch so to speak for all iPhone 3G customers who are upgrade eligible in the months of July, August, or September and will all those customers...

In addition, HTC has posted ANOTHER hotfix for the Touch Diamond 2. This is the 2nd hotfix already, I posted the other one just last month. This one...

When the iPhone 3.0 software gets pushed out Wednesday, users will gain multiple new features like cut and paste, but some will lose the ability to have prepaid service plans.
The second largest U.S. carrier said iPhone 3G users won’t be able to use its GoPhone rate plans because the original iPhone is the only device that was officially approved forAT&T ’s prepaid plans.

There are some products that I just like and others that I like a lot. Kingston products have always been favorites of mine and now it looks like there is a new line from them that will surpass all of my expectations. With the release of the DataTraveler 200 (DT200), this large capacity drive will provide you the flexibility to carry virtually all your critical data in a very small form factor.
