The buzz is amongst us in full force now. Palm Pre news is washing over the net. I bet a new search engine could be announced by Microsoft and it go unnoticed this week. Hmm. I too am excited though, so I can understand all the hype. I haven’t gotten a review unit, but I have had some hands on and I think it’s going to be a hit. I think I’ll weather the storm with WinMo personally, but I would love to give a Pre a full test spin. I will likely buy a GSM version when they become available too. Anyhow, on to the show. Let’s look at what’s out there on the Palm Pre, and there is more than I plan to share too.

1st off, here is a video from Cnet’s Bonnie Cha

You might remember that BGR got the 1st “review” of the Pre online, but the other reviews have been pouring in this week. Engadget posted theirs yesterday too. Read on for links and conclusions…

List of Palm Pre Reviews so far:

  • Boy Genius Report – “The OS is great. There’s no ifs ands or buts; it’s really refreshing to see something that’s brand new with a UI unlike anything else out there. The only problem with this is, Palm’s never been a hardware company that anyone’s really cared about.”
  • Engadget“To put it simply, the Pre is a great phone, and we don’t feel any hesitation saying that. Is it a perfect phone? Hell no. Does its OS need work? Definitely. But are any of the detracting factors here big enough to not recommend it? Absolutely not. There’s no doubt that there’s room for improvement in webOS and its devices, but there’s also an astounding amount of things that Palm nails out of the gate.”
  • Gizmodo -  ” Pro – Impressive start to an OS that should form the base of some quality phones in the future. Con -  Hardware quality is lacking, and feels flimsy and plasticky compared to the G1, G2 and the iPhone”
  • Walt Mossberg – “I’ve been testing the Pre for a couple of weeks, and I like it a lot, despite some important drawbacks that will have to be remedied.” – Did someone put an Apple logo on it?
  • David Pogue“Palm Pre, Elegant Contender”
  • USA Today – “Pre could pilot Palm to smartphone glory again
  • PC Magazine - “Palm is back—and with the coolest handheld device we’ve seen in a long time.

There will be dozens more in the coming weeks, but it looks like Palm and Sprint threw a bone to the large sites and conventional media 1st. What ever happened with that “real reviewer” thing?

Last thing to share, Palm Pre stock levels at Best Buy for entire US now leaked in full? Yep. Engadget is reporting that you can follow the links below to find out if a Pre is in your local Best Buy.
