Leigh from CoolSmartphone asks, “What’s this then? A big event in London hosted by HTC? Honestly, we have no idea what could or might be announced here but we’ll be there on June 24th to let you know.”

Well, I don’t know either, but we already know about the Touch Pro, The Snap, and the Touch Diamond 2, what else can it be? Shift 2? They wouldn’t hold a London event to unveil a carrier branded version of any of their phones, so what gives?

HTC is really coming out with a lot of new devices this summer. I recently read where the smartphone market was up over 68% in the US. I am not sure if the global market tracks with this, but I suspect there has been significant growth as well. Clearly HTC and others like Toshiba and Samsung are investing heavily into the smartphone market. I think all of them will test the new netbook and hybrid market. The next 12 to 15 months is going to be critical for market adoption.

The HTC Touch Pro and Diamond running windows mobile was a huge success for both HTC and windows mobile. Based on all the review so far for the Touch Pro 2 and Diamond 2 running windows mobile 6.5 this will also be a huge hit for both. As far as what's next, HTC will likely make a windows mobile phone with a larger display and similar format as the HD for windows mobile 7. It is highly likely that some of the new Zune HD features will make it into windows mobile 7 and this should be a huge hit for both as well.
  • HTC is getting out of the Windows Mobile business and just doing Android. :D

Seriously, it wouldn't surprise me if this was a big Android announcement. The other possibility is announcing WM 6.5 phones, which I read might come out sooner than expected (the HTC Tachi/Twin may launch in China in July).

  • Well, looks like I was right about the Android announcement (with no insider info, either). Does that mean that HTC is getting too predictable? ;)

  • Could there be a clue in the whole "come see" visual angle?

And if that is a clue....then it could be talking about an...ummm.....or ah....uhhhhh...well.....

Well, this just gets us back where we started...clueless.
