FCC To Investigate Google Voice Rejection

Posted by Adam Wyss on Jul 31, 2009 | Comments

I’m sure you have all heard by now that Apple, AT&T, and Google have all received letters from the FCC in regards to the Google Voice rejection. TechCrunch has posted the letters and I highly recommend hitting the link and reading up. I have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ll hear about this. Also read while you can because these may get takedown notices from one or more involved parties. http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/31/fcc-takes-on-apple-and-att-over-google-voice-rejection/ AKPC_IDS...

AT&T “Warhawk” Hits The FCC

Posted by Sam Hobson on Jul 31, 2009 | Comments

I haven’t cared too much about the HTC Touch Diamond 2 since I heard about the Omnia with AT&T 3G, but I’m sure everyone else would be happy to know that AT&T’s version of the Touch Diamond 2, aka the Warhawk, has just gone into the FCC for approval.  Release dates aren’t certain, but Engadget estimates a September release. via Engadget AKPC_IDS += "26670,"; Read More →

Apple has released the first update to OS 3.0 and that would be 3.0.1.  The only noted change is the fix for the much publicized SMS vulnerability that could allow hackers to take over your iPhone.  This update clocks in at a whopping 300 MB so hit the download button! Stay tuned for an update in regards to jailbreaking. Update: redsn0w will jailbreak 3.0.1 but you must use the 3.0 IPSW for it to work. It does...

Omnia II Stuff

Posted by Sam Hobson on Jul 29, 2009 | Comments

Now I really hope the Omnia II comes to AT&T.  I just learned some interesting things about it from reading pocketnow.com.  For one thing, Outlook Mobile is skinned.  I knew the calendar and other apps were skinned, but I didn’t know Outlook was skinned as well.  Hopefully it has improved folder browsing in IMAP, because that was kind of a painful task in regular Outlook Mobile. Another nice...

Motion F5 and C5 – the best outdoor display

Posted by ctitanic on Jul 29, 2009 | Comments

According to Tablet PC Blog, the Motion F5 and C5 Tablets have the best outdoor display in the market and to prove this they have posted few pictures at their site.  Those who never has seen an outdoor display won’t understand what we are talking about. This is something that you have to see it to believe it. The difference between an outdoor display and a regular display is like day and night. So, if you are...

AT&T Social Net

Posted by Marilyn Torres on Jul 28, 2009 | Comments

Now available on the AT&T MEdia Mall, the free Social Net app centralizes Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and RSS Feeds for AT&T customers. Well, for those customers that have compatible phones.  AT&T Social Net is supported by roughly 20 AT&T handsets, including some of the company’s most popular quick messaging phones and feature phones. AT&T customers can check to see if their devices are compatible...

Google Voice on the iPhone

Posted by Adam Wyss on Jul 28, 2009 | Comments

Google Voice and the iPhone should be a match made in heaven right? Wrong! Apparently Apple hates Google right now since Latitude has been relegated to a web app and Google’s official Voice app was rejected by Apple and GV Mobile and VoiceCentral have both been removed from the App Store. However with death comes new life. Now that GV Mobile has been taken out of the App Store after being approved personally by...

Texting While Driving 23x More Dangerous Than We Thought

Posted by Sam Hobson on Jul 28, 2009 | Comments

It’s actually interesting that they conducted a study on exactly how dangerous texting while driving is compared to other tasks.  The study was conducted by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute.  In reading their results (PDF), I was actually surprised just how dangerous texting is compared to the other distracting tasks.  The highest risk before texting in a light vehicle was 2.8 for dialing while...

Bill Gates still loves Tablet PCs

Posted by ctitanic on Jul 28, 2009 | Comments

Office Online Blog recently published an article from Bill Gates where he explains how useful is Office for him. The most important tool for him is Outlook, but look what he says about his Tablet PC and OneNote.  I always take a lot of notes about ideas to think about or things to follow up on. I try to bring my Tablet PC to meetings as often as possible so that I can use OneNote 2007 to write notes in ink that...

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 On Video

Posted by Sam Hobson on Jul 27, 2009 | Comments

Browsing Engadget (yet again), I came across this rather boring quiet video demo of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2.  Despite being very boring quiet, it did show some cool features of the device.  WinMo 6.5, what appears to be improved Panels, a cool looking weather app and so on.  This phone seems to have much to offer.  And it looks just flat out cool.  I may reconsider on the Omnia II…………nah.   I...

Buy an iPhone 3G for $49

Posted by ctitanic on Jul 27, 2009 | Comments

If you don’t mind to be an AT&T customer for two years then you can buy a refurbished iPhone 3G for just $49. These units come with a 90 days warranty. So it seems to be a good deal. Check the details at BrightHand. I paid around $400 dollars to AT&T to end a bad relationship with them. It took me a while because they own the phone lines in my county but today my home is 100% free of AT&T! There is not way...

OEMs Picking Up Windows 7 RTM Code

Posted by ctitanic on Jul 27, 2009 | Comments

Yes, HP, Toshiba, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Dell and Fujitsu Siemens, all of them already have Windows 7 RTM! a handful of OEMs arrived in Redmond to pick up their RTM code. In the past when a Windows release reaches RTM, we have traditionally given some/selected OEMs the opportunity to come to Redmond and pick up the RTM code personally. That’s good news. This does not mean that we will see right this week PCs from this...

HTC Hero Widgets

Posted by Marilyn Torres on Jul 26, 2009 | Comments

Aside from the increased number of pages or home screen “panes”, the Android-based HTC Hero has upped the ante on the widget front with capabilities similar to the live-updating widgets of the Nokia N97. Not only can updates be made to Twitter from the home screen widget, Peep, but a user’s timeline actively updates itself as well. To stay with Twitter, the client – called Peep – shows the full message list...

How do you carry your devices?

Posted by Jack Cook on Jul 26, 2009 | Comments

More pockets and a new (Limited Edition Artwork) logo design highlight the NEW SCOTTEVEST Hoodie making it one of the most versatile pieces of clothing from SCOTTEVEST yet.  We all have travel bags that we generally fill to capacity with devices, accessories and all that stuff you think you may want on a trip but what do you use when you are just out and about everyday?  For me, I have become a SCOTTEVEST person...

Samsung’s OmniaPRO a WinMo

Posted by Marilyn Torres on Jul 25, 2009 | Comments

At a glance, I thought Samsung’s TouchWiz would be a stand-alone UI but apparently the Samsung  B7610 OmniaPRO skins Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional into a surprisingly user friendly interface. From experience I’ve known WinMo to be a very versatile mobile operating system, but because the user can have so much access and ability to customize the OS, many things can eventually go wrong. Somehow I feel like just...

Omnia II May Come To AT&T

Posted by Sam Hobson on Jul 24, 2009 | Comments

I always thought the Samsung Omnia was a cool phone.  Never could get it cause I’m on AT&T, but I’d still envy those who could.  Anyway, I’ve been keeping up with the Omnia II news hoping that I would see the words AT&T and Omnia in the same sentence. After reading Engadget today, I did.  While everyone thought it would be a CDMA phone headed to Verizon, it turns out the FCC has just recently...

T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 – August 12th

Posted by Chris Leckness on Jul 24, 2009 | Comments

As I mentioned in my last post, I love my Touch Pro 2. Since I don’t have 3G in my area, the European, unlocked, Touch Pro 2 works just great for me. We’ll have 3G in the next couple months, so I do need to get the AT&T branded version when it hits, but until them, I am fine. If you are a T-Mobile customer, the wait is almost over according to GSM Arena… We just got word on the exact release dates...

AT&T Branded HP iPAQ K3 = Hot Stuff

Posted by Chris Leckness on Jul 24, 2009 | Comments

I don’t know if anyone remembers a post I made back in May, but it was me getting a little excited to see HP jumping back into the picture. You know that I have a big soft spot in my heart for Dell and HP. Anyhow, an AT&T road map blew up some secrets about some devices, including the HP iPAQ K3. Well, that HP iPAQ K3 leak we talked about is becoming more of a reality now… Yeah… what you see...
