If you’re familiar with Microsoft Exchange, then this is a handy new feature for you! In addition to synching contacts, email, and calendar, with the advent of Exchange 2010 your WinMo 6.5 device will be able to sync SMS as well. microsoft-exchange1

Right now I’m syncing my contacts and calendar with Google, which creates a handy backup should my phone every give me any issues. I log into Microsoft’s My Phone to selectively sync SMS messages that I just don’t want to lose. My Phone does have the ability to sync photos, calendar, notes, et cetera, but with a set 200 MB limit.

For Microsoft Exchange users, the ability to have one centralized sync with little to no chance of losing anything, including SMS messages you have an emotional attachment to is pretty nifty. For this Microsoft Exchange non-user, this capability is sounding pretty nifty too.  Additional messaging improvements with Exchange 2010’s debut can be found here.

  • I hope they also include SMS sync into Windows Mobile Device Center. People with Exchange accounts aren't the only ones who might want to save their text messages.

Is there some reason you're not using My Phone to sync your Calendar and Contacts? 200 MB should be enough to sync everything in main device memory (very few WIndows Mobile devices have 200 MB free storage memory). Unless you're trying to sync stuff from other built-in storage or a memory card, that is. :D
