Samsung is trotting out one of the latest screen technologies, the AMOLED screen, through several handsets; among them the Impression, Omnia Pro B7610, Jet, and the Pixon 12. The Pixon 12, which is finally hitting the UK August 1st, ups the ante with its powerful 12-megapixel camera in addition to the crisp, beautiful AMOLED display and other nifty features:
The Samsung Pixon 12 is set to be the first all Touchscreen handset to be released incorporating a 12MP digital camera. The specification of the picture taking technology contained within this handset is quite simply breathtaking and includes a host of new innovative features that will ensure the results are equally so.
- 12 Megapixel Digital Camera
- AMOLED Touchscreen
- Touch Autofocus Tracking
- Geo-tagging
- DivX/Xvid video player
My only ongoing disappointment is Samsung’s feature phone TouchWiz OS. I’m sure Samsung can find it in their hearts to increase internal storage and boost the capabilities of their in-house OS, which has so much widget potential. Of course, the ability to set up features like Gmail and Google Calendar would be nice too, which are two of the many things that the Samsung Impression cannot check on the fly or sync to like its WinMo or smart phone competitors. I would also like to see the death of the WAP browser in phones like the Pixon 12, which seem to be aspiring to be more than just feature phones, but still fall painfully short when they can’t do something as simple as browse the full internet. Lets put all of this on a wish list for when the Pixon 12 or other Samsung handsets make their debuts stateside in the future.
