This week 2 apps had updates sent to Apple for approval. One of these has been much anticipated by me personally for quite a while.

First up we have the venerable Facebook app.  This week they submitted the new 3.0 update to Apple for approval.  I was hoping a high profile app like this would get pushed through fairly quickly but I’m still waiting, checking for updates twice a day hoping for it to go live.  It still has not yet been pushed though however Facebook has been posting screenshots, tips, and all sorts of notes about the app update.  Hopefully we’ll see this live sooner rather than later.  One thing that the 3.0 update will not have however is push notifications.  That is slated for version 3.1 which I hope is already being worked on.

Next in line was Slingplayer 1.1.  I am extremely disappointed in Apple that this app was in and out within a week and a half.   Anyway, this app packs a native touch interface for the programming guide for DISH Network subscribers, improved widescreen support, and overall speed enhancements.  This version is specifically for the US App Store.  a separate version was submitted for worldwide users which enables streaming over 3G without the use of “trick” apps available through Cydia.
