Sol One of the most annoying things is trying to answer a call while driving, and fumbling with a Bluetooth headset that decides to pop off or out of my ear just gets old fast. Scosche has come up with a solution that I could see myself using; a solar-powered Bluetooth enabled speaker with suction cups!

One of the best ideas the Department of Transportation has come up with is the toll transponder with suction cups that adhere to a car’s windshield, so to incorporate a Bluetooth speaker that enables a person to answer calls safely and easily with the added advantage of voice caller identification. It can’t read text messages aloud, but for the not-too-painful $89.99 Best Buy price point I can wait to read my text messages when I get home.

  • If you're interested in a solar-powered Bluetooth speakerphone, EjectIt is selling an LG one for under $60 (+ $5.00 shipping). EjectIt is one of those deal-a-day sites, but their twist is that they drop the price every few hours until it's gone. Right now (11:49 PM PDT), the price has just dropped to $57.44 (it was over $60). In 3:22, it will drop again.

As this is a very limited deal, I'm not making this a home page post. I'll just post it here for those of you who check the blog comments. :D

  • I'm not sure what the toll transponder reference was about. This device doesn't incorporate an EasyPass system, does it?

If it's just about the suction cups, plenty of devices do that already, from radar detectors to cell phone holders to GPS units (I have all three). Be aware though that attaching devices to your windshield is illegal in some jurisdictions (maybe only if blocking your vision).

Personally, I've wanted a combined GPS/radar detector for a long time. I don't know if interference concerns make that impossible, but it would be an awesome device. (If anybody makes one, remember my royalties. :D) I suppose adding a Bluetooth speakerphone wouldn't be much of a stretch.
