Sharp just announced it’s new “Netwalker” line of Ultra Teeny Tiny Internet Device with No Market to Speak Of (UTTIDWNMTSO), starting with the PC71, a 6.3 x 4.2 x .9-inch device featuring a five inch touchscreen, Ubuntu OS and glorified thumbboard. It is running an ARM Cortex-A8 based processor, with 4GB of storage and 802.11b/g Wi-Fi (but no 3G)….and makes me feel more than a little like Mr. Peabody. I am SURE I have seen this device before in my travels.
Now while I think the device IS sort of cool looking, admit it Sharp, it’s a PDA.
You doubt me, well check my proof after the jump…
Take a look at Sharp’s own Zaurus SL-C3100 running Linux but no WiFi in 2005…
How about the classic Sony Clie UX-50 running the Palm OS in 2003…
Go on Sharp, tell me the Netwalker isn’t an overpowered PDA…I dare you.
Not that that is a BAD thing per se….but I mean honestly, what’s next, OLED Bell Bottoms?
MP4 playing Betamax machines?
Good lord, where will it END? Please pardon me Seymour, I am going to go hug my Tungsten C and cry myself to sleep now.
