I watched the excellent coverage of the Apple event on 6 different sites. GDGT had the be all good. The event started with a skinny Steve Jobs addressing those in attendance. Jobs announced that he was back at Apple thanks to a liver transplant…
“I’m VERY happy to be here today with you all. As some of you know, five months ago I had a liver transplant. I now have the liver of a mid-20s person who died in a car crash, and who was generous enough to donate their organs. I wouldn’t be here without such generosity. I’d like to thank everyone in the Apple community for the heartfelt support — it meant a lot. I’d also like to thank Tim Cook and the rest of the Apple team, they really rose to the occasion.” Big applause. Steve is sounding very soft.” – GDGT Live Blog
- Apple went on to announce that iPhone 3.1 is going to be free and available today.
- iTunes 9 today as well. To me, from the screens from the live feeds, it’s looking very “Zunish”.
- $1.29 Ringtone downloads. 30k+ from all major labels.
- Organize your iPhone and Touch icons within iTunes 9. This is HOT and overdue.
- Sharing to Facebook and Twitter. Oh boy. Spam incoming…
- Apple has sold 20 Million iPod Touch and claim 73% Marketshare.
- Apple took a stab at Dell and Mini Laptops and their Pocketability.
- Apple showed a bunch of game related crap I didn’t care to pay attention to.
- Prices : 8GB at $199, 32GB at $299, and 64GB at $399.
- 160GB iPod Classic for $250, 40GB more, no price increase.
- 2GB Flash Player – $59
- Apple plans to add video camera to the iPod Nano with audio to emulate portable video cameras to get in on the Youtube craze.
- FM Radio and Larger Screen for the Nano now too.
That’s it for now. This is all that caught my eye, I will let someone else post the official goodness, complete with some images and such later.
