Fuze no longer available on at&t’s wireless site

Posted by Stephen Borders on September 30, 2009 – 4:49 pm

I have been waiting for the at&t release of the TP2 and while we have read it will be available on Oct. 18th this is good sign that we are getting closer. I am hoping the recent price drop by Sprint will have a similar effect.

So what do you think, anyone patiently else waiting for this release? And why at&t, no choice or you actually like at&t at least better than your other choices.

I'll get it on AT&T. Here are my reasons:

A - Just got my wife an iPhone.
    B - T-Mobile's 3G network is too immature
C - Sprint is too unstable and coverage is very spotty in New England
D - Verizon is has a history of being to restrictive on what you can and can not do.

    As for that last note:
    - Yes, AT&T has been very restrictive with iPhone users, but I've been on an $20/month unlimited 3G data plan for the last 4 years. (I can also tether) I know my rate will go up to $30 (+$5 for 200 texts) per month based on their new policy. But, I guess I'll have to deal with that.
    - I've never been barred from using bluetooth to move files on or off any phone I've had with AT&T.

All that being said, AT&T sucks. They just suck less than the alternatives. (IMHO)

  • Verizon has been getting better on the restrictions, though (at least on smart phones). My Motorola Q (back in 2005) allowed file transfer using Bluetooth. My Samsung Omnia allows WiFi.

The only thing that I'm aware of that Verizon locked down recently was GPS, and they promised to remove that. In fact, an OS update supposedly removed the GPS lock from my Omnia (I say "supposedly" because I haven't gotten it to work yet.)

  • Well not to be the barer of bad news, but I was just at an AT&T store where I was talking to this guy from the tech department who actually knew his stuff and knew what I was talking about when we were talking and say's he actually held and played around with the Tilt 2, the beta version... he said AT&T is having issues with getting the 3G working on the Tilt 2 that's why it was delayed. He said AT&T and HTC were working on this issue and that the phone may be pushed back to November-December and not to October 18th like we've been hearing!! Now this isn't confirmed or fact so take this with a grain of salt right now but it could very well be possible... You can imagine how My mouth dropped when he was telling me this cause God knows how I want to get this phone already and the new Windows Mobile goodies coming out in October I dont want to be left out waiting

They did say there were already receiving accessories for the hTc Pure aka Diamond 2 so I'm sure that will be out very soon!! Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that the Tilt 2 does in fact drop in October and everything gets sorted out so there's no delays!!!

I hope he was wrong and that the tilt2 gets released on time. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets delayed again though.

I have a Tilt. Don't really use the slide out keyboard much. I really want them to announce when the Pure is coming out.
  • badersk
I use mine all the time. I fear I would not be satisfied with the Pure, but if the tilt2 gets delayed I might get it anyway and then return it if I don't like it.
  • And that's one big advantage Windows Mobile has over the iPhone -- multiple form factors so cater to different users. :D

  • I have the old 8525 and I also use my keyboard all the time. That is the only reason I don't even consider the IPhone and can't wait for the Tilt 2 to be released.
