Ps. I found this one by checking out the recent Pogue cartoon… Should they rename the toon, “the Joy of Apple”? (Credit Link)

    Sort of sad really….

Oh well, if it makes them feel better.

well, just check a few of our comics, and you will see that we dish it out to Apple too.

It seems that Apple fans can take a good ribbing a little easier. ;-)

I enjoy your comic, you do great work, and it is true you don't ALWAYS praise Apple blindly, like in your great strip about Apple Truthiness (http://www.joyoftech.com/joyoftech/joyarchives/...).

However, when you describe your comic as…

The Joy of Tech is a comic about technology and pop culture. We like to feature the people and events that are making tech news. We tend to focus on Apple news and events because they often affect the industry in general, and because we are longtime Mac users here at GeekCulture Headquarters. We create The Joy of Tech using Apple computers, mostly on our MacBook Pros, running Mac OS X Leopard. We use software from Apple, Adobe, Macromedia, BBedit, and others, including Microsoft (yep, we do use Microsoft Office for Mac on occasion).

and put out strips like this one on the recent iPod releases (http://www.joyoftech.com/joyoftech/joyarchives/...), or this one on Snow Leopard (http://www.joyoftech.com/joyoftech/joyarchives/...) that read like ad copy written by Apple, do you blame some Zune fans for taking “severely irritating and embarassing to be around” as less “ribbing” and more “mauling”?

That said, I still love your comic…and hope you can take some ribbing.

I will have to admit that I was totally oblivious to these cartoons until I saw the pro-Pouge one last night. I scrolled through the most recent and they all seemed apple-ish, so I did make an assumption. I will take a deeper look tonight. I think I posted this at 2am this morning. I do my best, “no thinking” posts that time of night. :)

Hi Zealot. “The Stuff that Matters” comic is about how someone's health is worth far more than any gadget. I could have easily been about Bill Gates if he was at Death's door, and then returned.

The second one, about Snow Leopard… well, yeah, it would make a great Apple ad. :-)

regarding the Zune as “severely irritating and embarassing to be around”, well, that's pretty much how everyone describes previous Zunes, is it not? Zune HD has that emotional baggage to deal with, and still has to prove himself. :)

    Okie dokie, have fun!

    Snaggy,

Good point about the “things that matter” strip. I didn't read it that way initially, but I take your meaning.

…and not EVERYONE viewed previous Zunes that way, just most people. I admit that Zune HD carries baggage, but the strip seems to condemn the new product based on the previous generations, not allowing it to prove itself, which apparently for all commentators from Pogue and Mossberg on down it is doing save for a need for more content.

Have you actually seen or messed about with a Zune HD yet. I also own an iPod Touch and the experiences are similar, but very very different. Try one out, you'll see.

    Thanks again for commenting,
