LG the New HTC?

Now that HTC is moving more and more towards Android based phones, who will take up the slack in terms of Windows Mobile smartphones? Well, how about Korean up-and-comer LG?
Already the world’s third-largest mobile phone vendor according to their press release, LG announced today they will be launching three new phones over the next few weeks, all slated to run Windows Mobile 6.5 (due for release October 6th) No further word from LG about phone specs or what carriers and markets they will be released for.
As regards Windows Mobile 6.5, LG said that the new OS will “make it easier for users to navigate the Web”…which may be something of an oversimplification from what we have seen of WinMo 6.5 but certainly speaks directly to one of the main things consumers look for in a phone these days.
LG isn’t stopping with these first three however. The company says that they intend to launch a total of 13 new Windows Mobile phones around the world by the end of 2010. 13 phones in 16 months isn’t bad at all, and may very easily be enough to wrest the title of Windows Mobile Champion from HTC as well as giving them “Favored Vendor Status” once Windows Mobile 7 rolls around.
