This is the 1st of the new and improved Mobilitysite Minute. The new format is a 15-30 minute 1 on 1 with a fellow staff member, Microsoft MVP, Mobius member, or other mobile tech enthusiasts.

In tonight’s podcast, I was joined by Steven Hughes from Boston Pocket PC. Steven is a Windows Mobile MVP and an all around knowledgeable guy, that’s why his nickname is “FYIGUY”. We talk about the Zune HD and the HTC Hero and dabbled a little into software stores.

  • I rarely listen to podcasts (I've listened to maybe 3 or 4 ever). One reason is that they're too long; I don't have (or don't care to allocate) 15-30 minutes to devote to listening to something. Compounding this, because they're so long, they also take too long to download (at least on my mobile device) which breaks the "instant gratification" factor.

For something called "Mobility Site Minute", I'd expect it to be no longer than about 5 minutes (giving you some artistic license). If you split the podcast into separate podcasts -- one for each segment -- I'd be much more likely to listen to them. Maybe you could even release one per day for the week.

How do other people feel? Do you actually like longer podcasts, or do you wish they were shorter but more frequent?

    Steve
