This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.New iPod prices have already begun going up at Apple’s website, basically as predicted and bringing the prices more or less in line with the Zune HD.
Assuming the 8G Touch will be dropped (unless they keep it at a very low price, say 99 bucks, without upgrading it to the new generation), that means the 16G Touch will sell for $249, just thirty dollars more than the Zune HD 16G and the 32G Touch will sell for $279, ten dollars LESS than the Zune HD 32G. It is pretty clear that a 64G iPod Touch will be added at the $399 price point the 32G Touch used to fill. The Nanos and Classics are also taking price cuts, from 20 to 50 dollars depending on capacity.
No way yet to know if these prices will remain as they are now when the new generation models are announced, or if Apple is intending on having a two track product line, a set with cameras and a set without….time will tell.
Of course, as of now, these prices only apply to US buyers…European and Asian sites still have the old prices. I imagine they will change as well, in due time….probably.
