What is a Camera Phone? I think I know now…

Posted by Chris Leckness on September 28, 2009 – 8:29 am  Share

I have always been a proponent to the “camera phone” since I just can’t see capturing memories with a crappy 1.2 megapixel camera. On the other hand, the phone is normally the added feature for me. I buy a PDA with a phone added into it. That’s what the Windows Mobile smartphones are in essence. It wasn’t until the Nokia N95 came out with a stellar camera built in that I ever really paid attention to a camera within a phone. Since the N95, there have been some great phones built in, in fact, my HTC Touch Pro 2 has a pretty nice camera that I actually use. Well, here is a camera that has a phone built in…

How nice is this?  It’s got a 3.3-inch WVGA AMOLED Touch Screen, 12 Megapixel camera with a 3x Optical zoom, and well… a phone.

I can see where this would be a desired device for some. I am like you I need a pda with a phone.

How big is the camera's sensor? Is the lens any good? 12 MP seems like a little bit overkill and would produce noisy photos.

I'm waiting for a camera phone built in partnership with a camera maker like Canon.
  • Casio may not be Canon, but they do have some presence in the digital camera market. If that's good enough, check out the 5.1 MP, 3x optical zoom, rotating display, military-grade Casio Exilim phone.
