WM 6.5 To Finally Have Group Messaging

I can’t tell you just how long I have tried to set up Group Messaging on my Windows Mobile device. At work, there are groups of people that I email on a consistent basis. Outside of it, I’ve lost count of just how many times I’ve missed one or two friends when setting up a get-together because I didn’t have a preset group of numbers to text. Sure there are apps out there that bridges the gap between OS design and user needs like Trinket’s PowerSMS but nothing seems to fit my needs.

groupcontacts Well, it seems that those issues will soon be a thing with Windows Mobile 6.5. According to David K of FuzeMobility, you will see 2 new options when trying to add a contact using the default Contacts application: Email Group and Messaging Group. Choosing either option will bring up your list of contacts to add to that group.

This is definitely a welcomed feature to Windows Mobile and one that could not come sooner. The feature was found in Build 23412 so I am not sure when it started but am glad it did. I’ve been playing with some Custom ROMs on my Touch Pro 2 for the last few weeks but have not noticed this feature. Then again, I don’t use the default Contact application, which you’ll need as TouchFlo 3D does not seem to bring up the option, but I’ll be sure to keep a lookout for this the next time I load one up.
