So, here we have an app for the last thing left for there to be an app for right? Finding the best place to get some wings! Kluckr has you covered, I think. Let’s see what Kluckr is all about.

Welcome to Kluckr! THE location finder for the wing connoisseur.

Kluckr’s wing span already covers 20,000+ locations across the country… but we will continue extend Kluckr’s reach.

If you have a thing for wings, tell Kluckr where you go and rate what you ate! Review a wing location and we’ll reward you with points–points that can add up to more than just chicken-scratch. Be sure to tell your friends who flock to wing joints that Kluckr is now in their corner. Click onto Kluckr to instantly organize a wing-ding of a party.

Loading up Kluckr you will see that it wants to use location services to find out where you are. How else would it know what wings to suggest right?

I chose initially to “not” use location services. It prompted me to search for my city. Next, I let the location services talk to Kluckr, now I have “near me” and “choose city”. I chose to find a city near me. When I tried this out for the screenshots, I was in Cottondale, but I live in Tuscaloosa so I chose that city.

Now you are greeted by a big old wheel. You can spin to get a random suggestion. I am not sure if it’s supposed to key off ratings or be random since I got multiple results for the same category. See below.

All in all, I got 4 different suggestion for the category, “Heat”. So if the app suggests by rating, it might be that none of our restaurants are rated in T-Town yet.

Next is a list view by category. From here you can select a location to get more info.

By selecting a location, you get more info. A map, Ratings and ability to rate yourself, reviews, and if you are registered with Kluckr, you can set up a wing meeting of sorts with friends. I do not want to sign up, so I can’t show how to make reviews and rate locations. I can see the value in this, but I just don’t like to sign up for every site that comes along.

Wrap Up
If you are a wing lover, this is a must have, even at $0.99. The concept is great and the interface is awesome. I am not too thrilled with the spinner, the list view of locations are enough for me. The easy navigation and having the map embedded within the app make it very usable.

Pros:

  • Super concept, just needs some participation from wing lovers to fill out the database.
  • Easy Navigation with good details on the locations

Cons:

  • Not free. Not that I mind paying $0.99, but this app, while well done, has a concept that is better suited for a free app.
